About

Edmund Wylfing (ca. 844-870), Saxon king of East Anglia, virgin and martyr, was the first patron-saint of England. The Italian ensemble La Reverdie brings to life his story through a medieval liturgical drama, in three parts: life, passion and miracles.

In 1986, two pairs of sisters from Italy founded the Medieval ensemble La Reverdie: the name, derived from a poetic genre that celebrates the return of Spring, reveals the principal trait of a group that for over 20 years has captivated audiences and critics alike for its approach to the vast and varied musical repertoire of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.

This is a re-release, with new packaging and new artwork, of one of the most successful recordings of the Italian ensemble.

Recorded: April 8th-12th 1996, Congregazione "Sacra famiglia", Martinengo, Bergamo, Italy.
