Jan Schmidt-Garre’s films have received international acclaim and have been awarded numerous prizes worldwide, among them the main prizes at the film festivals in Chicago, Paris, Monte Carlo, Columbus/Ohio, Munich and Prague.
Schmidt-Garre turned this stage production into a cinematic experience by filming and editing several performances, then adding in additional scenes with Jacquelyn Wagner (Leonore) which were shot separately.
