Thomas Hecht (piano)About
This CD shows Thomas Hecht at his powerful and poetic best in three great mid-20th century works for solo piano - the 2 major American piano sonatas, by Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland and, sandwiched between, is a rarely heard New Zealand gem, Douglas Lilburn's Chaconne of 1946, considered by Hecht to be an ignored masterpiece, and available here on CD for the first time.
Hecht has appeared with leading orchestras on five continents and is winner of the ARD Munich International and USA National Two Piano Competitions.
