About

Alfred Brendel was one of the most important pianists of the 20th Century and the first pianist who recorded the complete piano works of Beethoven. In December 2008 he said goodbye to concert life.

For his first long play album, he recorded the piano cycle “Pictures at An Exhibition” by Mussorgsky and, later, the Petruschka-Suite by Stravinsky; compared with his later main programs of Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, Liszt and Mozart, this was quite an unusual repertoire.

The other recordings come from the years 1955 to 1959.
