Supraphon Supraphon | 1 to 0 of 0 results

Originally founded in 1932, Supraphon became prominent in the post-war years, playing a significant role in helping to spread the fame of Czech classical music. This gave rise to a broad catalogue of titles which systematically mapped out the works of Smetana, Dvořák, Janáček, Martinů and Zelenka, as well as other figures in both the Czech and the international music worlds. Significant domestic and foreign soloists, chamber ensembles, orchestras and conductors all contributed to its collection of recordings.

The Supraphon archives contain the recordings of Czech Philharmonic under the baton of Václav Talich, Karel Ančerl, Karel Šejna, Václav Neumann and others, as well as recordings of Saša Večtomov and such non-Czechoslovak artists as Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels, Mstislav Rostropovich, Ida Haendel, Henryk Szeryng and André Gertler. Many of these recordings have now been reissued onto CD.

The label has also successfully collaborated with contemporary artists, including the making of several award-winning recordings with the Pavel Haas Quartet. Other artists who have worked with Supraphon in recent years include conductors Jiří Bělohlávek and the late Sir Charles Mackerras.

Use this page to search for more specific requirements. Any combination of criteria can be used.

We would recommend keeping your search as simple as possible - this will help in returning the maximum number of results.

The following tips may assist you in your search:
  • Avoid using punctuation marks and spaces when searching for catalogue numbers - all of these are removed for ease of use.
  • Try using just one word in each of the fields you use. For example, only type the surname of an artist rather than their whole name.
  • The keyword box will search the entire database, including all extra information attached to a product. This is best used for very specific words, or for adding an extra word to narrow down your search results.
  • The genre box is useful for wider searching, but is not recommended for specific searches, as not every product has been assigned a genre. Please note that concertos are included under Orchestral and that Chamber includes all small ensembles of two musicians or more.
Please note that we are continuing to add more products to our database on a daily basis. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please do not hesitate to contact us and, as long as the product is still available, we will order it for you and send it as soon as possible.
