This new recording of unique music for piano duet brings together four varied composers whose music is linked through the country of Switzerland. The largest work is the very rare Grand Sonata by Anton Liste, a remarkable composer. He was an almost exact contemporary of Beethoven, whose music was clearly a strong influence on Liste - one of the more important musicians in Zurich in the early 19th century.

This important work is followed by the wonderfully evocative Pastorale d'ete by Arthur Honegger, inspired by the Swiss Alps, and the equally rarely-heard brilliant ballet music by the Swiss composer Hans Schaeuble based on paintings by Goya.

Finally, the great Frank Martin's Pavane couleurs du temps brings this enchanting recital to a superb close.

The Dutch pianists give splendid performances, and are finely recorded.
