Michael Gordon is a founding member of Bang on a Can and Cantaloupe Music. Over the past 25 years, he has produced a strikingly diverse body of work, ranging from large-scale pieces for high-energy ensembles to major orchestral commissions, to works conceived specifically for the recording studio.

Timber was commissioned by Slagwerk Den Haag, Club Guy and Roni, and Mantra Percussion, with generous support from the Nief Norf project.

Scored for six graduated wooden Simantras (or, less formally, 2x4’s) — percussion instruments devised by French composer Iannis Xenakis, it is a one of a kind musical experience and nothing like this has ever been recorded.  

Timber is packaged in actual wooden boxes, complete with disc and booklet.
