About

A selection of great ceremonial cavalry marches and trots, including music for the Major General’s Inspection, trumpet calls and fanfares.

The Life Guards were raised in 1658 (under a different name) by Charles II and are now the senior regular regiment in the British Army. Together with The Blues and Royals they form the Household Cavalry and are right at the forefront of all major state occasions such as The Queen’s Birthday Parade. Their regimental music is therefore splendid in every sense of the word, as are their performances.

This selection includes the Life Guards’ most important regimental music – many marches (including some wonderful Prussian marches) together with fanfares and trumpet calls which are brilliantly performed on notoriously difficult valveless cavalry trumpets. The Band also recreate the Music for the Major General’s Inspection. Sit back and imagine you are in the front row watching Her Majesty drive down The Mall!

Recorded at The Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks, London.
