About

The Parisian public had to wait until 1958, more than half a century after the performance conducted by Mahler himself, for a return to concert programmes of the Second Symphony, after a long period of mistrust in France.

It was conducted twice at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in 1958: on February 20th, by Carl Schuricht, and on November 13th by the 40-year old Leonard Bernstein, both with the RTF. The first of these has been on the market for some time. It is only fitting that the second now become available.

Recorded live at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees 13/11/1958.

This is a world premiere recording of Constant's 24 Preludes for Orchestra.
