The Idillio Concertino has a rather carefree, serene character, and it is especially the second movement that justifies its title. The Bassoon Concerto too is a musical fantasy with a scherzo touch here and there, while the English Horn Concerto creates more of a melancholy mood of elegiac beauty – all of this in keeping with the times in which it was written.
The booklet notes are written by well-known German writer Herbert Rosendorfer.
