Flute virtuoso Michala Petri is world famous for her astonishing virtuosity and musicality in a repertoire ranging from early baroque to present day, with many works written particularly for her. On this release she ventures into new musical territory featuring three very different contemporary recorder concertos.

The concertos have been written by the Spanish composer Joan Albert Amargós, the American composer Steven Stucky and the Swedish composer Daniel Börtz. Each composer finds astonishing new ways to explore the intense musical complexity and fierce rhythmical strength of the recorder, as well as the strong dynamic interaction of soloist and orchestra. The music reflects the nature of different national origin, where soft, delicate and angelic passages alternate with loud, almost diabolical passages, characterizing the special cultural mixture of this recording.

Michala Petri performs together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra/DR and the Chinese conductor Lan Shui.
