About

After decades of neglect, the music of Sir George Dyson (1883-1964) has gradually been stirred into life again. He was, in fact, one of the most distinguished musical minds of his time. As a public schoolmaster, broadcaster, lecturer, author, composer and administrator, he played an influential part in English musical life for over fifty years. His music has been described as a kind of “enriched Parry”. A richly developed orchestral sense, a poetic feeling for “colour-harmony” indebted to Delius and a consistent warmth of romantic, lyrical expression are all part of Dyson’s idiom.
