... this is one of the more interesting recent violin and piano recital programs to come my way... Beautifully done; a performance that should gain Dohnányi’s sonata an even wider audience than it already enjoys. ... They make the halting, broken conversations and excited gestures intelligible. I’d even say “beautiful,” for the players iron out the more wrinkled passages and connect strands where Janáček has left them disconnected. 
This is virtuosity of the most rewarding sort: present, communicative, full of personality [Saint-Saëns]. ... Monteiro’s wonderfully placed syncopation about six minutes in, light as a wink. ... few recitals of recent vintage have given me such consistent pleasure. The recording quality is first class, and Monteiro’s own booklet notes are genuinely informative.
