About

Camino is the debut album of Duo Delibes, an intimate and profound project that gathers and encapsulates the musical experience of the duo's recent years through repertoire of Spanish music for violin and piano, spanning from the 18th century to the present day, from composers Federico Mosquera, Andres Gaos, Jose Palomino and Luis de los Cobos.

Duo Delibes consists of sisters Sara and Esther Gutierrez, born in Valladolid, currently residing in Germany and The Netherlands. In their concerts as a duo, especially abroad, they are often asked whether they can perform Spanish music. This constant curiosity about their culture has been the driving force behind the deeper exploration of their musical heritage.

As natives of Valladolid, the title Camino inevitably evokes the novel by Miguel Delibes, a fellow countryman and the inspiration behind the name of the duo, as well as their own roots. This recording is there - fore both a personal and artistic journey: a path through the Spanish repertoire for violin and piano that traces their own musical and cultural trajectory through works that, for the most part, have never been recorded or even published. With this album, the duo aim to share an essential part of their heritage that still remains in the shadows, and to actively  contribute to its dissemination and recognition.

Sara and Esther Gutierrez started to play together at a very early age, performing the first concert of their professional career as a duo in 2010, at Miguel Delibes Auditorium in Valladolid. Since then they have performed at many important venues in Spain, Germany, France, The Netherlands and Austria. They have been invited to perform at prestigious festivals such as 'Santander International Music Festival', 'Internationales Klavier Festival' in Hainfeld, 'Las noches del Olivar' in Madrid and XXVII chamber music festival 'Martes Musicales' in Vitoria. Currently Sara Gutierrez holds a teaching position at Codarts University for the Arts (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) and Esther Gutierrez is member of the Philharmonic Orchestra of BadenBaden (Germany) as sub-principal of the first violins section.
