About

Recorded during the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2025, no one had more to lose (or win) by entering the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in October 2025 than Eric Lu. Winner of the fourth prize in Warsaw at the 2015 Chopin Competition, when he was only 17, the Boston-born pianist went on to take first prize in the 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition.

Lu’s path to success looked consistently promising but far from absolutely certain, especially when his Third Round appearance was postponed by a hand injury; after careful deliberation, the jury allowed him to play last. When the jury finally declared him the winner at around 2.30am on 21 October, the huge crowd gathered at the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall acclaimed him enthusiastically, but there were still some mixed feelings.

Listen to his performance on this 2-CD set for yourself and make your own decision!
