About

Anthony Payneís name came to international prominence through his reworking of the sketches of Elgarís Symphony No.3, but he has long been acclaimed as a composer with a style of singular strength and consistency which is wholly his own.

Payne's vocal and choral settings reveal both the breadth of his literary knowledge and his exceptional sensitivity to language. Recorded in the composerís 70th year and supported by the RVW Trust, this disc includes two of his most recent works performed by the artists most closely associated with his output, and including his wife, soprano Jane Manning.
