About

Antal Doráti's complete Haydn symphony cycle for Decca, recorded between 1969 and 1972, is still regarded as the benchmark today. These recordings with the Philharmonia Hungarica return in new 24-bit/192kHz transfers from the original master tapes. Brought together in one landmark set for the first time, this original jacket collection also includes their recordings of Haydn’s Minuets and the three great oratorios with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, comprising Doráti’s complete Haydn recordings on Decca across 41 CDs. The outstanding cast includes Barbara Hendricks, Lucia Popp, Ileana Cotrubaș, Benjamin Luxon, and Kurt Moll. The set also includes a 5,000-word essay by Decca Classics Label Director Dominic Fyfe, including newly discovered correspondence from Decca producer James Mallinson and a wealth of archive photographs.
