About

Now considered as one of the greatest violin concertos of the 19th century, Beethoven’s Concerto in D major did not receive the acclaim it deserved during his lifetime. It took almost 40 years for it to finally be recognised as the masterpiece that it is, thanks to Felix Mendelssohn and Joseph Joachim.

An admirer of Beethoven, Franz Liszt orchestrated the Andante cantabile from his ‘Archduke’ Trio for the erection of the Beethoven monument in Bonn, proving his immense talent as an orchestrator.

Orchester Wiener Akademie and Martin Haselböck here record these two brilliant works, pursuing their Resound journey along with violinist Benjamin Schmid.
