Martha Argerich is the last legendary pianist. She is wild, rebellious and difficult for some, beautiful and generous for others - and incredibly talented for all. Thanks to this Evening Talks, Georges Gachot lifts a corner of the mysterious veil of the Argentine piano legend. Martha Argerich shares her memories with us, confides her doubts and transfers her irrepressible desire for music to us. The concert A Romantic Take brings together Martha Argerich and violinist Guy Braunstein for their first ever duo programme - an artistic encounter that promises to be an extraordinary musical experience.

Explore Daniel Barenboim share his personal insights into Debussy’s music and his understanding of the Art of the Prelude. Debussy wanted his piano preludes to be played and listened to privately. The film Daniel Barenboim plays & explains Debussy pays tribute to his wish, with Maestro Daniel Barenboim interpreting the first book of these delicate musical pieces. Architecture, photographs, a dancer and pictures of nature appear, evoked by the music. Composed over twenty-five years the Beethoven Piano Sonatas embodying the shift of musical taste from the Classic to the Romantic, their performance requires a musician of extraordinary versatility. Daniel Barenboim is one such pianist. In following in the footsteps of such masters as Artur Schnabel, Barenboim truly shows himself to be among the greatest living musicians.

Denis Matsuev, a virtuoso in the grandest of pianistic tradition, gave this remarkable recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. The star pianist performs the complete Seasons by Tchaikovsky, one of the most popular classical works. The programme also features Kreisleriana by Schumann and Three Movements from Stravinsky’s Petrushka. At the Annecy Classical Festival he sets himself apart by his powerful playing and his unrivalled agility. Together with the conductors Yuri Temirkanov and Zoltán Kocsis and the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra they performed works by the Russian composers Mussorgsky and Shchedrin and by Liszt and Elgar.

For generations, the bitter-sweet Schubert piano works have delighted music lovers with their irresistible mix of regretful tenderness and euphoric innocence. András Schiff’s exquisitely nuanced performances of the much-loved Impromptus and Moments musicaux demonstrate to perfection why he is universally regarded as one of today’s finest interpreters of Schubert.
