About

The album that we present to you is a recording of several important repertoire items of Polish composer Aleksandra Brejza, so far not often recorded. And it is a pity, since Brejza's output is an extremely interesting phenomenon, both in the field of piano and vocal music.

In terms of composition, Aleksandra Brejza is especially devoted to piano, paying particular attention to the harmony of her works. In her compositions, one can hear the influence of composers she appreciates, especially the Hungarian creator Béla Bartók.

Brejza, on the basis of detailed analyses of Bartok's compositions and by expanding her compositional technique, strives to develop her own 'natural resonance system'.

It is also art song with piano accompaniment that plays an important role in Aleksandra Brejza's compositional work. The selection of texts is not accidental – they are poems by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, too easily classified as 'feminine', since they contain many universal references, and poems by Czesław Miłosz, a Polish Nobel Prize winner – profound, yet at the same time very simple.

The piano part is performed by Małgorzata Furche-Jurczyk, who is particularly fulfilling herself as a contemporary music performer. The vocalists are Iryna Ushanova-Rudko, a Ukrainian soprano and pedagogue, and Adam Zaremba (baritone).
