About

This albumn of works by Manfredini and Roeser includes world premiere recordings and was produced in collaboration with the Archives and Library of the Palace of Monaco.

Two composers: one Italian, the other German. The first born in the late 17th century, the second in the 18th century. Of one we are proposing 6 Concertos (taken from Op.3), of the other 2 Trio Sonatas.

Manfredini’s Op.3 concertos do not all have the form of a Concerto Grosso, but can be divided into three groups: concertos with a single line for the violins and an unusually interesting middle part for the viola (1-4); solo concertos for violin (5-8) and “Concerto Grosso” form (9-12). There is no shortage of interesting reworkings of Italian and French popular musical styles, as in the Allegro in the form of tarantella from Concerto no.5 or in the short final dances of the Concertos no.1 and no.2.

The Trio Sonatas Op.1 clearly show the influence of the Mannheim School on the musical language of the young Roeser, following the Classical four-movement structure.
