About

Born in Bern in 1924, Klaus Huber studied composition with Willy Burkhard and Boris Blacher. He also studied violin with Stefi Geyer. In 1959, Huber composed the cantata Des Engels Anredung an die Seele and it sailed to an international level at the World Music Days of the IGNM. He led the composition class at the Academy of Music in Basel, then the composers' class and became the Dean of the Institute for contemporary music at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg.

Klaus Huber's work embraces a very wide range of musical forms from oratorio to chamber music, orchestral music to solo pieces. Huber had a vision of the musical praxis and theoretical reflection as inseparable. His articles about art, the artist and society reveal him as an acute analyst and critic. The wideness and singularity of his artistic line made him one of the most prominent figures in the second half of the 20th century.
