About

Bridging Romanticism and Modernism, the composers of the Second Viennese School Schoenberg, Berg, and Webern ushered in a new musical era. Their works, ranging from the intimate to the epic, were ideally suited to the talents and intellect of Giuseppe Sinopoli. A conductor and composer whose studies also embraced medicine, psychology and archaeology, he took a special interest in the music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His interpretations, founded in both scrupulous analysis and an epicurean appreciation of sonorities, were often revelatory.

Recordings from 1995-1998
