Holstís extra-terrestrial score calls for a vast orchestra that includes an organ, two sets of timpani, an array of percussion with a wordless ethereal choir.
Colin Matthewsís Pluto and Holstís A Somerset Rhapsody complete the recording.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is re-issuing this superb 2004 recording, which has never been widely released, with brand new artwork to coincide with its hugely popular performances of The Planets around the UKís premier concert-halls.
