Dino Ciani played under the batons of Abbado, Muti and Giulini among others during his tragically short life. One can therefore claim that he had already fulfilled Cortot’s description of him as “an example of a youth possessing the rarest gifts bestowed by nature, able to perceive the real balance of creative invention in a variety of manifestations.” Hearing his studio recordings and live performances, it will not be long before the listener is won over by the elegance, creativity and imagination in his solo repertory.
