ArtistsSimon Borutzki (recorder)
Telemann‘s Twelve Fantasias are a stunning example of Baroque solo works ‘senza basso‘. Their appeal and finesse derives from their ability to suggest polyphony through intricate melodic designs, which make use of the instrument‘s full range.
Telemann masterfully experiments with formal elements and techniques such as fugato, toccata, the French overture, Baroque dance movements, and echo effects.
Simon Borutzki performs the cycle with twelve different recorders, bestowing each Fantasia with its very own timbre.
