About

Two unusual and very different works come together on this CD with respect to the Leipzig University of Music. The Jazz exhibition was created by the current university music director David Timm.

"The word 'jazz' would not necessarily have to appear in the title, because there are just a few improvisation parts that are firmly embedded in the respective processes", says the composer Timm. "But I'm sticking with this title, because the composition of my work is grown via the harmony, rhythm, the interaction and the notation of jazz."

Max Reger's musical setting of the 100th Psalm belongs not in vain among the most respected works of the composer. Time and again in his letters, Reger notes how much this psalm was at his heart and the sublime effect it had on him. The composition is still regarded as an immense challenge to the performer.
