ArtistsJamie Walton (cello)
British Cellist Jamie Walton explores the unique atmosphere of Holy Trinity Church, Blythburgh to perform Britten’s Three Solo Suites for Cello. The Suites are the summation of the long-standing friendship between Britten and Rostropovich, with the passionate third in particular inspired by the Russian cellist’s rich and romantic performances of Bach’s unaccompanied suites.
1. Jamie Walton in Conversation with Paul Joyce
2. Suite No.1, Op.72
3. Suite No.2, Op.80
4. Suite No.3, Op.87
5. Tema ‘Sacher’
Also available as a studio recording on CD (SIGCD336): “Britten’s suites for solo cello are not perhaps an easy listen any more than they are easy to play, but Jamie Walton’s absorbing performances of all three seem to expose and explore the emotional heart and soul that went into the writing of them.” - Daily Telegraph (5 Stars)
