About

An exuberant brainchild of John Christie, Glyndebourne Festival Opera launched in 1934 with a production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. Since then, Glyndebourne has become a byword for excellence, bringing together the finest operatic musicians of the day for extended rehearsals in an idyllic setting with uncompromised technical and theatrical standards.

This celebration includes 12 productions from the last 13 years, ranging across ‘signature’ works such as The Marriage of Figaro, classic productions such as The Rake’s Progress with designs by David Hockney, and new adventures in Baroque opera and Wagner.

Over two and a half hours of world-class opera, with great scenes from 12 classic Glyndebourne productions, including the acclaimed The Marriage of Figaro and The Cunning Little Vixen from 2012.

Artists include Anne Sofie von Otter, Danielle de Niese, John Mark Ainsley, William Christie and Mark Elder.

Extra features: See opera differently.

"Here is a Figaro to put with the 1973 Glyndebourne production placed among the top five operatic DVDs. Figaro and Susanna are very much the centre here, and we like them not only because they sing and act well but because they are sympathetic in a modern way." - Gramophone (The Marriage of Figaro)

"....Lucy Crowe’s glowingly sung Vixen ...Tom Pye’s Hockneyish designs are evocative of a world of childish wonder, with animal costumes which cleverly suggest human characteristic." - The Daily Telegraph (The Cunning Little Vixen)
