Die Schachtel, 'azione mimo-scenica' composed by Franco Evangelisti in 1962-1963 on an idea of the artist Franco Nonnis, represents a significant episode in the history of multimedia art. Evangelisti drew eight horizontal bands on large oblong sheets of paper and labelled them as follows: music, mimes, mimes’ voice, voice over, tape, general action, lighting, projections. The musical part is the most detailed, while for the others he merely put in sporadic indications.

This performance comes from the Festival of International Modern and Contemporary Music Traiettorie, October 2010 at the Lenz Teatro, Parma, directed by Martina Traversa. Valentina Barbarini and Elena Sorbi are the performers. Special instruments were made by the craftsman, Giuseppe Bussi, to original drawings by Salvatore Sciarrino that resemble faithfully those designed by Evangelisti for the first performance of the work.
