About

'Songs of Solomon' is a suite of 20 Hebrew hymns and psalms for the Synagogue, created in the seventeenth century in Venice by Jewish-Italian composer and musician Salamone de' Rossi. This is a remarkable feat of Late-Renaissance polyphony, made all the more incredible by his adaptation of the current Christian musical styles perfected by Palestrina to the Hebrew language.

Pro Cantione Antiqua are masters of early music and polyphony, their rich and supple voices exploring the crevices of de' Rossi's settings, and conductor Sydney Fixman is one of the foremost authorities on Jewish music and has been recognized globally for his acuity at the podium.
