About

Following an album dedicated to J S Bach, Emmanuelle Guigues and Bruno Procopio have dedicated their latest album to François Couperin, 'the great', for the Paraty label.

The 'Pièces de violes avec la basse chifrée par Mr FC ', published in 1728 and cited by the Mercure de France in August 1729, had long been considered lost. It was only in the 1930s that Charles Bouvet discovered them by chance, thanks to research in the archives of the National Library. One may wonder about the reasons that convinced François Couperin not to sign this collection with his name in full, as he did for his other compositions. The mystery remains, but it is the timbre of the instrument that transcends.
