After nearly 20 years in Zurich, David Zinman retires after the 2013/24 season and leaves the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich at the end of July 2014. Even in his 77th year, David Zinman's enthusiasm for new music, new ideas and new ways of making music more accessible is always at the forefront of his mind.

As a music director, he has raised the standard of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra to an international level. He has introduced new types of concerts, and made the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich one of the most enviable organizations to be part of.

For Arte Nova/RCA Red Seal, David Zinman has recorded highly acclaimed complete symphonic cycles from composers such as Beethoven, Mahler, Schubert, Schumann and Richard Strauss. Now for the first time, Sony Classical is releasing all of David Zinman's Zurich recordings in a single box. Not only the legendary Beethoven albums he made for Arte Nova, but also the complete cycles of works by Brahms, Mahler, Schubert, Schumann and Richard Strauss.
