MDG (Dabringhaus und Grimm) DVD-Audios | 1 to 1 of 1 results
MDG is a German label, founded in 1978 by Werner Dabringhaus and Reimund Grimm. They describe their ideal recording as being ’one in which the music creates the spontaneous impression of a live concert performance and the special atmosphere going along with it’. Recording venues are carefully selected in order to match the compositional style and interpreter for each and every performance. The end result is a very natural sound with minimal manipulation of the recorded sound.
The label focuses primarily on instrumental and chamber music. Organ music features heavily, alongside many recordings by highly regarded ensembles such as the Leipzig String Quartet and Musica Alta Ripa. Their series of Handel operas and oratorios has received much acclaim.
