From 24 June-17 July, the Château de Versailles and Naïve come together to produce a spectacular event, ‘Venise Vivaldi Versailles’, to mark the completion of the publication of recordings of the entire works of Vivaldi, now the most celebrated baroque composer. This exceptional festival, organised in partnership with Naïve, the independent music label which ten years ago launched its recording of the complete works of Vivaldi, will explore the links between three splendours of Europe’s baroque period: Venice, the romantic ‘Serenissima’; Vivaldi, the composer of genius; and Versailles, the legendary palace created by Louis XIV and the greatest artists of his time.

Many of the leading Vivaldi exponents of our day – including Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Rinaldo Alessandrini and Fabio Biondi – take part in this live event. To celebrate the festival internationally, Naïve has produced three special box sets, at bargain prices, by these three great Vivaldi champions.

This remarkable 4-CD boxed set (a repackaging of the now deleted OP30347) gathers together recordings and highlights from critically acclaimed and best-selling Vivaldi recordings by the award-winning combination of Europa Galante and its director Fabio Biondi. It includes their legendary interpretation of The Four Seasons, alongside a wide range of works including concertos for violin, cello and strings, and a selection of the marvellous Dresden Sonatas. On the last recording, violinist Biondi’s continuo musicians include Rinaldo Alessandrini on harpsichord.
