About

The cello enjoyed a rapid rise in popularity during the 18th century, particularly in France. One of the first to tune into this popularity was the composer Michel Corrette (1707-1795), who in 1741 published the first instruction manual for cello playing in France.

In 1739 he published a collection of six sonatas entitled The Delights of Solitude and this new recording by Bassorum vox brings that exciting period of music truly to life.

Performed on Baroque instruments (two baroque cellos, baroque guitar & harpsichord).
