The disc Aurelio Barrios y Morales - Anthology of his Symphonic Works portrays the fortunate revelation of a devoted Mexican musician who nearly fell into oblivion as time went by. His work is not played, and there are barely a handful of biography papers to show a glimpse on the life of this extraordinary composer, allowing us to appreciate his remarkable talent and his work as a pianist, organist, choirmaster, and teacher. This Anthology is a set of four pieces which represent the most meaningful material regarding the brief orchestra work by Aurelio Barrios y Morales (1880-1943).

Rodrigo Elorduy is a music director and pianist from Mexico City. He studied Music Direction and Choirmastery at the Instituto de Música Sacra “Cardenal Miranda” with maestro Xavier González. Furthermore, he had piano studies at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música of Mexico City, being with maestro Gustavo Morales. Later on, this outstanding musician broadened his studies in Choirmastery under the tutelage of maestros Jacob Chi, Michail Jurowski, Gustav Meier, Scott Yoo, Armando Zayas, and Eduardo Barrios (among others).

Conductor Elorduy has participated in some important Mexican music festivals, such as: Festival Internacional Cervantino, Festival Internacional Dr. Alfonso Ortiz Tirado and Festival Internacional Ars Vocalis México. Since 2009, he has worked intensely with youth orchestras in the country, participating actively in the Orquestas Juveniles y Coros programme in Mexico City. Currently, conductor and choir-master Elorduy directs the Orquesta Sinfónica de Coyoacán and the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil Ollin Yoliztli.

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Coyoacán Nueva Era A.C. is presently in its second decade. It has been committed to concert music while evolving as an outstanding institution in its field within the Coyoacán community. The orchestra makes many performances on regularly basis. It offers seasonal concerts and it does educational performances which involve the school community. This ensemble also gives off-seasonal performances and thematic concerts.
