About

Severin von Eckardstein, one of the leading German pianists of his generation, has an already lengthy record of solo concerts and concerto performances on major stages around the world.

Considered as one of the most inspired pianists of his generation, on this recording, Severin von Eckardstein explores three major cycles of French music from the 1900s, associating Claude Debussy’s two revolutionary books of Images (1904-1907) and Gabriel Dupont’s La Maison dans les dunes (1907-1909) as part of this debut album under the Artalinna label.

This suite of 10 pieces with memorable atmospheres filled with luminous colours and heady melodies will stand out for many as a musical revelation! The recording was awarded with Diapason d’Or and CHOC de Classica in France in late 2018.

Eckardstein has delighted the public with many highly acclaimed concerts in Berlin, Munich, Moscow, Madrid, London, Paris, New York, Amsterdam, Budapest, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul. His talent could be enjoyed at great music festivals, including Klavier-Festival Ruhr, in Aldeburgh/UK, the Gilmore Festival in Michigan/USA, the renowned festival in La Roque d’Antheron, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Husum Festival (“Raritaten der Klaviermusik”) and the Miami International Piano Festival.

He has performed with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Philippe Herreweghe, Lothar Zagrosek and Marek Janowski, and made important debuts, for example with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (Beethoven Piano Concerto No.5) under Paavo Jarvi in 2007, with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (Prokofiev Piano Concerto No.3) conducted by Jaap van Zweden in 2012 and with the Hungarian National Philharmonic under Zsolt Hamar (Schumann Piano Concerto) in 2017.
