Violinist Pinchas Zukerman, together with Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, tackles two cornerstone Violin Concertos in live recordings from Tel Aviv in 2006 and 1986.

Helicon is the label of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, whose chief conductor has been Zubin Mehta since 1977. This disc is another brilliant example of a long-lasting friendship and musical collaboration between Zubin Mehta and his Israel Philharmonic with a terrific soloists, in this case it is the world-famous violinist Pinchas Zukerman.

The Elgar’s Concerto is a real tour de force for its length (more than 45 minutes) and its difficulty. A live, immaculate performance such as Zukerman’s is a remarkable achievement. The Bach Concerto, recorded in 1986, is an ideal fill-up, as one of the most beloved works for violin and orchestra.
