About

Gary Peacock’s Voice from the Past – Paradigm (recorded 1981) draws inspiration from the energy music that Peacock played in New York in the early 1960s when he was a member of visionary saxophonist Albert Ayler’s groups. Jan Garbarek, in some of his finest playing on disc, evokes the aura of that era in emotionally powerful exchanges with Tomasz Stanko.

“Peacock, as ever, is sublime,” said Jazz Journal, “and the perpetual motion of DeJohnette’s drumming maintains a superb tension.”

Initially published in April 1982, the vinyl is reissued as an audiophile pressing taken from the original analogue tapes.
