About

Violinist Daniel Hope has toured the world as a virtuoso soloist for 25 years and is celebrated for his musical versatility as well as his dedication to humanitarian causes. Winner of the 2015 European Cultural Prize for Music, whose previous recipients include Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Hope appears as soloist with the world’s major orchestras and conductors, also directing many ensembles from the violin.

An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist since 2007, Daniel Hope has recorded 10 albums for the label demonstrating his unique musical approach. This 4-CD collection presents his first 4 albums for the Yellow Label featuring Baroque and Romantic repertoire. The set includes a note by Daniel Hope as well as 3 exclusive tracks released on CD for the first time: Larghetto from Vivaldi’s Concerto in F major RV 295 as well as Mendelssohn’s Venezianisches Gondellied op.57, and Scheidend op.9, no.6.

Hope says: “I am delighted about this combined set, and tremendously proud of each and every one of these ‘children’!”

“This violinist, now among the best in the world as well as the most thoughtful, is as brilliant at Bach as Birtwistle…” The Observer

“The British violinist has a big, rich sound and a big, enquiring spirit.” Los Angeles Times
