About

In a little street in Brussels, two identical buildings stand side by side. One of them is home to famous concert pianist Martha Argerich, while the Tiempo-Lechner family, known for its long lineage of piano prodigies, lives next door. Family matriarch and pedagogue Lyl Tiempo presides over her renowned children Sergio Tiempo and Karin Lechner, as well as Karin’s young daughter Natasha. At a mere 13 years old, Natasha is already a busy performer who carries the weight of her famous musical heritage squarely on her young shoulders.

The documentary accompanies world-class pianists on their daily journey: on the one hand Martha Argerich, who invites various musicians from all over the world to fill her home with music, and on the other hand the Tiempo-Lechner family, consisting of Lyl, her children Sergio and Karin, and Karin’s 13 year old daughter Natasha.

Reviews

Laughter and humour abound, as various combinations of friends and family rehearse late at night or while others eat. No one is in any doubt about the sacrifices made by musicians, yet the piano is woven without fuss into their lives ... All this is tellingly observed by Nante, the layers building up until we reach the day of the concert itself. From the snippets included, it would be wonderful to have that on DVD too.  Rebecca Franks
