About

Continuing their series of chamber music performances by leading players from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, this Artesmon disc highlights principal trumpet Ladislav Kozderka.

He has put together a fascinating selection that offers arrangements of Dvorak's Love Songs, Op.83 and pieces from Janacek's On An Overgrown Path, which is a solo piano work. Originals for trumpet feature a Sonatina by Martinu, a Concertino by little known Czech composer Vaclav Trojan (1907-1983) and his own Solarus for Solo Trumpet

For good measure there is also the Largo from Dvorak's New World Symphony and his Humoresque, Op.101, No.7.

The devoted acccompanist is Vaclav Macha. The recording, made in the Rudolfinum, Prague, ensures there is a true balance between each instrument. There is a lot of music to enjoy on this disc.
