About

The essential jazz trio Aka Moon offers a refreshing approach to jazz and to ethnic musical genres such as funk and rock with a highly distinctive sound. In their richly filled career they have worked with dozens of artists from different backgrounds on numerous projects. Never afraid of new musical encounters, the band has devoted its new album to the Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757).

The latter offers in his vast repertoire of sonatas unique musical material, fascinating in its rhythmic and harmonic eccentricities, which creates an ideal base for the musical language of Aka Moon, accompanied in this adventure by the pianist Fabian Fiorini. With Scarlatti, each sonata is a strange and particular sound object, concealing popular, Arabic and Mediterranean colours, offering opportunities for transformation that sometimes tend towards Balkan influences.

Performing this baroque music in another time and space gives a lot of room for improvisation to contemporary interpretations. Built on an almost cinematic drama experience, this creation takes its audience on an imaginary journey with a lot of surprises.
