About
Luke Whitlock was born in Exeter in 1978 into a musical family. He started composing in his early teens and went on to study at Dartington College of Arts and then for his master’s degree at the Royal College of Music. After leaving formal education, Luke was employed by the Royal College of Music and also taught at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
He is now a BBC producer, working with Radio 3 and Radio 4. His music is definitively neo-Romantic, exceptionally lyrical and traditional in tonality and harmony and so will appeal to a wide audience not familiar with core classical/niche art music. Neither is his writing simplistic, but speaks simply from his soul with beautifully balanced phrases and often a deep sense of fun.
Highly acclaimed pianist Duncan Honeybourne performs solo piano works, alongside two delightful chamber pieces.
