About

The main work on this recording is the String Quartet No.1, with the remaining titles being early compositional works.

Published in 2013, the seeds of the quartet began with the 1938 poem by American Robinson Jeffers (1887-1962) and was originally conceived by the composer for soprano and string quartet. The original poem speaks of the futility of stone cutters – “fore-defeated challengers of oblivion who, like poets will lose their battle of creating monuments against time”.
