MichaŽl Levinas was the first French pianist of his generation, after Yves Nat, to record Beethoven's complete 32 Piano Sonatas. He performs them on a modern piano (Steinway), giving his interpretation a notion of space (an important concept for the artist), resonance and amplification of sound.
His set, recorded between 1984 and 1991 for AdŤs, was hailed by the press as one of the finest modern cycles, the critics praising the soloist's technical mastery, a homogeneous vision of the work, absence of any form of sentimentalityÖ
