ArtistsPierre Cochereau (organ)
Pierre Cochereau assuredly remains the most complete example of the authentic real-time composer. The improvisations on this new CD feature recordings made between 1968 and 1979 and truly show the art of the variation.
The improvisation bringing this homage to Pierre Cochereau to a close recalls the ‘official’ role of the organist of Notre-Dame - the Prélude Adagio et Choral variésur 'La Marseillaise' was recorded live on the 10th November 1968, on the eve of General de Gaulle’s final presidential appearance in the cathedral.
