The first extensive Blu-ray collection of the Berliner Philharmoniker concerts demonstrates the orchestra's excellence in numerous fields.

Locations are: the Philharmonie hall, 'Waldbühne' (the open-air location where the orchestra plays the last concerto of every season), as well as the uncommon and compelling venues of the 'Europakonzert'. The traditional May 1st concert is represented by the concert held in Berlin in 2007, performed in an historical cable factory, and by the concert held in 2008 at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.

All four concerts are conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, whose baton has been shaping the face of the orchestra for more than 10 years, strengthening its reputation as one of the worlds' leading orchestras.
