Wojciech Kilar (1932-2013) discovered a new path in the simplicity of music inspired by the beauty of highland nature. The new expressive devices, such as repetitiveness, formal discipline, simplified harmonic writing and a growing predilection for using the human voice and words, perfectly fitted the composer's deeply religious experience of the world around him.
Sadly, Kilar passed away on the 29th December 2013, but this latest release probably reflects the essence of this great modern composer.
Exodus may well be one of the composer's most striking works. It was used as the trailer for Schindler's list.
Angelus is a work for soprano, mixed choir and orchestra in which Kilar wanted to write concentrated and meditative music like a man's response to the gift of meeting with God.
